description

They had bought a semi-detached house at the end of a plot of land. They were more interested in the location than the architecture. The houses (all the same) had 3 floors, with an area of 393 m²: just 2 floors facing also the condominium street, all 3 of them the back patio. Ugly or beautiful, it was not open to question, the facades and the volume were untouchable.

The upper floor kept the original design: 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets, 1 of which was private. Roughly at the street level, there was the entrance, the toilet, the kitchen and the lounge open
to the side garden. Accessible from the patio, one floor below, just a span and a room backed onto the garage that had a steep ramp to the street. Three flights of stairs united the three floors. The geometry of the stairs that connected floors 0 and 1 was not interesting. We reinforced and corrected the geometry of the rooms, spans, cupboards and toilets on floor 1. We reduced the design, colours and finishes.

They asked us to take advantage of the sucupira wood floor; all the rest was built from scratch. On floor 0, we demolished all the rooms except for the stairs, supposedly because it would be expensive to replace it. We replaced the front door frame and the opening from the lounge to the side garden. We inserted a toilet by dividing the kitchen entrance.
One moveable panel closes either the kitchen or the hall: the space on the floor is open, nothing touches the ceiling. The ceiling itself is deformed to sculpt the last flight of stairs.

The room area of the semi-buried floor was converted into a study and laundry.
The partition wall in the patio was knocked down to the level of the terrace of the acquired plot and 5 steps were dug out. The swimming pool was installed on the plot that is at an intermediate level between the side garden and the floor -1 and we added stairs to connect them.
